Nothing lasts forever, batteries included. Even with perfect habits, it degrades a little over time just from being used. But some things speed it up quite a bit.
Charge cycles are the big one; every battery's rated for a set number, and once you've gone past that, runtime just isn't what it used to be. There's no getting around that part.
Heat is arguably worse, though. Leaving the MacBook somewhere warm, or on a surface that traps heat underneath it (a blanket, a pillow, whatever), does more damage over time than most people realise.
Charging habits play a role too. Constantly plugged in? Or constantly letting it drain to zero? Either extreme wears things down faster than just charging normally through the day.
If you're storing it away for a while while travelling, not using it for weeks, don't leave it sitting at 0%. That alone can cause damage that doesn't reverse.
And the charger matters more than people give it credit for. Cheap, uncertified ones don't deliver stable power, and that inconsistency adds up.

Simple answer: we see this exact problem constantly. The A3401's still fairly new, but the battery issues that show up on it aren't anything unfamiliar to us at this point.
We check before we open anything. We use real OEM-quality parts, not whatever's cheapest. Pricing's clear before we start, not adjusted halfway through. And if getting to Nehru Place or Gurgaon is inconvenient, we'll just come to you.
It won't stay a small issue. Give it time, and you'll be dealing with shutdowns mid-work, a laptop running hotter than it should for no clear reason, maybe even one that stops charging altogether. Swelling's worse still; it pushes on the trackpad, the keyboard, sometimes warps the case itself.
Doing it now costs less than dealing with what a swollen battery does to the rest of the machine later. If it's been bugging you for a while already, that's usually a sign to stop putting it off.
